Ingredients
Scale
For the Brie:
- 1 round of Brie cheese (about 8 oz)
- 1 head of garlic, cloves separated and peeled
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 sheet puff pastry (store-bought or homemade)
For the Garnish (Optional):
- Fresh rosemary or thyme sprigs
- Honey for drizzling
- Jam (such as fig, apricot, or raspberry)
Instructions
Prepare the Garlic
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- Prepare Garlic: Slice the top off the head of garlic (just enough to expose the individual cloves). Drizzle with a bit of olive oil and wrap it in foil. Roast the garlic in the oven for 20-25 minutes until soft and fragrant. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
Prepare the Brie
- Unwrap the Brie: While the garlic is roasting, unwrap the Brie cheese and place it on the center of your baking sheet.
- Add Garlic to Brie: Once the garlic has cooled slightly, squeeze the roasted cloves out of their skins and spread them evenly over the top of the Brie.
- Wrap the Brie in Puff Pastry: Lay the sheet of puff pastry over the Brie and garlic, folding the edges around to encase the cheese completely. Use a fork to gently press the edges of the pastry together to seal.
- Brush with Olive Oil: Brush the top of the puff pastry with a little olive oil to help it become golden and crispy while baking.
Bake the Brie
- Bake: Place the Brie in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and the cheese is melted inside.
- Check for Doneness: After baking, carefully check the Brie by gently pressing the top of the pastry. If it feels soft, the cheese is melted inside and ready to serve.
Garnish and Serve
- Garnish: Once the Brie is out of the oven, allow it to cool for a couple of minutes. Optionally, drizzle with honey or a fruit jam for an extra layer of sweetness. Add fresh herbs for a beautiful and fragrant touch.
- Serve: Serve the Baked Brie with sliced baguette, crackers, or fresh vegetables for dipping.
