  • Author: Martha
  • Total Time: 30 min.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Hot Chocolate:

  • 4 cups whole milk (or dairy-free alternative)
  • 1 cup heavy cream (for extra richness)
  • 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate (or hot cocoa mix)
  • 1/4 cup sugar (optional, depending on sweetness preference)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt
  • Mini marshmallows, whipped cream, and chocolate shavings for toppings

For the Charcuterie Board:

  • 46 breakfast pastries (croissants, muffins, danishes)
  • 2 types of waffles or pancakes (mini waffles or thick pancakes)
  • 1 cup fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • 1 small bowl of maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup assorted nuts (walnuts, pecans, almonds)
  • 1/2 cup yogurt or Greek yogurt (plain or flavored)
  • 23 varieties of spreads (peanut butter, Nutella, cream cheese)
  • Sliced fruits (bananas, apples, pears)
  • 1 small bowl of granola or cereal
  • 23 types of cheese (brie, cheddar, or goat cheese work well)
  • 23 small bowls of toppings (sprinkles, crushed graham crackers, mini chocolate chips, crushed Oreos)

Instructions

Prepare the Hot Chocolate

  1. Heat the Milk and Cream: In a medium saucepan, combine the milk and cream. Heat over medium heat until warm but not boiling. Stir occasionally.
  2. Melt the Chocolate: Once the milk mixture is heated, add the chocolate (or cocoa mix) and sugar. Stir continuously until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth.
  3. Add Vanilla and Salt: Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt to enhance the flavor.
  4. Serve: Pour the hot chocolate into a large serving bowl or individual mugs. Top with mini marshmallows, whipped cream, or chocolate shavings as desired.

Assemble the Charcuterie Board

  1. Prepare the Waffles and Pancakes: Warm your waffles or pancakes and slice them into smaller, bite-sized pieces. Arrange them in a circle or along the edge of the board.
  2. Arrange the Pastries: Place your croissants, muffins, or danishes in a central area of the board for easy access.
  3. Add the Fresh Fruits: Scatter fresh berries, sliced bananas, and pears around the board. These will add a pop of color and freshness.
  4. Include the Toppings: Place small bowls with sprinkles, chocolate chips, graham cracker crumbs, and any other fun toppings for your hot chocolate.
  5. Add Yogurt and Nuts: Put a bowl of yogurt and some nuts near the fruit and pastries for guests to dip or spread.
  6. Cheese and Granola: Nestle small bowls of cheese and granola in different corners of the board, allowing everyone to mix and match as they like.
