Ingredients
Scale
For the Caprese Skewers:
- 1 pint of cherry or grape tomatoes
- 8 ounces of fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini or ciliegine)
- Fresh basil leaves (about 20 large leaves)
- 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tablespoons of balsamic glaze
- Sea salt (to taste)
- Freshly cracked black pepper (to taste)
Instructions
Assemble the Skewers
- Prepare the Ingredients: Begin by washing the tomatoes and patting them dry. If you’re using fresh mozzarella balls, drain any excess liquid and pat them dry as well. Set the mozzarella, tomatoes, and fresh basil leaves aside.
- Skewer the Ingredients: Start with a tomato, then add a fresh basil leaf, followed by a mozzarella ball. Repeat the process until all your skewers are assembled. Aim for about 3-4 ingredients per skewer.
- Arrange on a Platter: Once all the skewers are assembled, arrange them neatly on a large serving platter. You can line them up in rows or create a more dynamic display by arranging them in a circular pattern or a zig-zag style.
Drizzle and Season
- Drizzle Olive Oil: Lightly drizzle extra virgin olive oil over the skewers, ensuring each one gets a touch of this rich, flavorful oil.
- Add Balsamic Glaze: Follow up with a drizzle of balsamic glaze, giving the skewers a sweet and tangy finish that balances the fresh flavors.
- Season: Sprinkle the skewers with a pinch of sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste. Don’t be shy—seasoning is key to bringing out the natural flavors of the ingredients.
Serve
- Ready to Serve: Your Caprese Appetizer is now ready to serve! You can serve the skewers as-is or add an extra drizzle of balsamic glaze just before serving for a bit more flair. They’re perfect for enjoying immediately or making ahead and refrigerating for a few hours before your event.
