  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • ¼ cup fresh basil leaves
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze (or balsamic vinegar for drizzling)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Prepare the Ingredients

  1. Slice the Mozzarella: Cut the fresh mozzarella into thick slices, about ¼ inch each. The cheese is soft, so be careful not to tear it.
  2. Slice the Tomato: Slice the tomato into thick rounds. The more vibrant and ripe the tomato, the better the sandwich will taste.
  3. Prepare the Basil: Wash the fresh basil leaves and gently pat them dry. No need to chop—just leave the leaves whole for a beautiful presentation.

Assemble the Sandwich

  1. Toast the Bread: Lightly toast your slices of bread in a skillet or on a grill pan with a little olive oil until golden brown and crispy. This adds flavor and keeps the sandwich from getting soggy.
  2. Layer the Ingredients: On one slice of toasted bread, layer the sliced mozzarella, followed by the tomato slices. Then, add a few whole basil leaves. Top with the other slice of bread.
