For the Fruits:

  • Fresh figs (or dried if fresh aren’t available)
  • Pomegranate seeds for a pop of color

For the Crunch:

  • Assorted nuts (almonds, walnuts, or pecans work great)
  • Pretzels, crackers, or breadsticks

For the Spreads and Dips:

  • Fig jam or honey
  • Grainy mustard
  • Olive tapenade (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Wreath Base

  1. Choose Your Platter: Select a large round platter or wooden board to act as your wreath base. The larger the board, the more room you have to fill with delicious treats!
  2. Lay Down the Greenery: Arrange fresh sprigs of rosemary, thyme, or basil in a circular shape on your platter. This forms the “wreath” and gives it that festive, wintry feel. You can overlap the greenery slightly to create fullness.

Arrange the Meats

  1. Roll and Fold: Start with the prosciutto, and gently fold or roll the slices. Arrange these rolls in a circle along the outer edge of the greenery. The folds add dimension and make the wreath visually interesting.
  2. Add Salami: Next, arrange your salami slices in a similar way. You can either fold them into quarters or roll them like the prosciutto for added texture.
  3. Capicola or Soppressata: For an extra layer of flavor and variety, scatter your capicola or soppressata in the middle, creating a bit of contrast with the other meats.

Add the Cheeses

  1. Cut the Cheeses: Slice your hard cheeses (cheddar, gouda, manchego) into wedges or small cubes and add them around the wreath.
  2. Place the Brie: For a creamy touch, place a wheel or wedges of brie on the wreath. The soft cheese will be a delightful contrast to the crispy, salty meats.
  3. Include Cream Cheese: Softened cream cheese can be placed in small dollops around the wreath. You could even pipe it with a decorative tip for extra flair.

Incorporate the Fruits

  1. Grapes and Pears: Scatter grapes (both red and green) around the wreath for color and sweetness. Add slices of pear or apple near the cheeses for a refreshing crunch.
  2. Figs and Pomegranate: Add fresh or dried figs for a chewy, sweet contrast to the savory meats. Sprinkle pomegranate seeds over the wreath for a burst of color and juiciness.

Add the Crunch

  1. Nuts and Crackers: Nestle small clusters of nuts between the fruits and meats for an added crunch. Include crackers or breadsticks around the edge for your guests to scoop up all the deliciousness.

Drizzle with Dips

  1. Sweet and Savory: Place small bowls of fig jam, honey, grainy mustard, and olive tapenade around the wreath. These will allow your guests to dip and personalize each bite.
