  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

Prepare the Dough

  1. Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm water, yeast, and sugar. Stir gently and let sit for 5-10 minutes, or until the mixture becomes frothy.
  2. Mix the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and garlic powder. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until the dough begins to come together.
  3. Knead the Dough: Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, until it’s smooth and elastic.
  4. Let it Rise: Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let rise for 1-1.5 hours, or until it has doubled in size.

Shape the Breadsticks

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll Out the Dough: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangular shape on a floured surface.
  3. Cut the Breadsticks: Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice the dough into 12 even strips.
  4. Arrange on the Baking Sheet: Place the breadsticks on the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between each one.

Prepare the Garlic Butter Topping

  1. Make the Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, melt the butter in the microwave or on the stovetop. Stir in the minced garlic and dried oregano.
  2. Brush the Dough: Brush each breadstick generously with the garlic butter mixture, making sure to cover the entire surface.
  3. Top with Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the breadsticks, followed by a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.

Bake the Breadsticks
