Instructions
Prepare the Popcorn
- Pop the Popcorn: Use an air popper or stovetop method to pop the popcorn. Place it in a large bowl and set aside.
- Melt Butter and Mix: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add the sugar, corn syrup, and vanilla extract. Stir until the mixture is bubbly and well combined.
Combine the Ingredients
- Add Marshmallows: Stir in the mini marshmallows until melted and smooth.
- Add Food Coloring: Add a few drops of food coloring to the melted mixture, stirring until you reach your desired color.
- Combine with Popcorn: Pour the melted marshmallow mixture over the popcorn. Using a spatula or your hands (lightly greased), gently mix until the popcorn is evenly coated.
Form the Popcorn Balls
- Cool Slightly: Let the mixture cool for a few minutes until it’s safe to handle.
- Shape the Balls: Grease your hands and take small handfuls of the popcorn mixture to form balls about the size of a golf ball. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool completely.
Decorate the Monsters
- Add Eyes and Toppings: Once the popcorn balls are set, use candy eyes, gummy worms, sprinkles, or other candies to create your monster designs. Get creative with different faces!
- Optional Whipped Cream: For extra fun, top with a dollop of whipped cream to resemble monster “fur” or “hair.”
