Serendipity Frozen Hot Chocolate

  • Author: Martha
  • Total Time: 10 min.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups whole milk (or almond milk for a dairy-free version)
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (or chopped dark chocolate)
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups ice cubes
  • Whipped cream (for topping)
  • Chocolate shavings or chocolate syrup (optional, for garnish)
  • Mini marshmallows or crushed candy canes (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

Prepare the Chocolate Mixture

  1. Melt the Chocolate: In a small saucepan, heat the milk and heavy cream over medium heat until it’s warm, but not boiling. Stir in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and cocoa powder, whisking constantly until the chocolate is melted and the mixture is smooth.
  2. Sweeten the Mix: Add sugar to taste and stir until fully dissolved. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Allow the mixture to cool slightly, just enough so it’s not too hot to blend with the ice.

Blend the Frozen Hot Chocolate

  1. Blend It Together: In a blender, combine the cooled chocolate mixture with the ice cubes. Blend on high until smooth and creamy, with a thick, frosty consistency.

Serve and Garnish

  1. Pour and Serve: Pour the frozen hot chocolate into glasses, making sure there’s enough space for whipped cream and your favorite toppings.
  2. Top with Whipped Cream: Add a generous dollop of whipped cream on top, followed by a sprinkle of chocolate shavings, a drizzle of chocolate syrup, and a few mini marshmallows or crushed candy canes for extra festive flair!
