For the Bread:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 large eggs (beaten)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup colorful sprinkles (for the top of the loaf)
Instructions
Prepare the Oven and Pan
- Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan, or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
Mix the Dry Ingredients
- Combine Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well blended.
Mix the Wet Ingredients
- Blend Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and then add the buttermilk and vanilla extract. Mix until fully combined.
Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients
- Add Butter: Add the softened butter to the wet ingredients and mix until it’s fully incorporated.
- Fold Together: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix—this helps the bread stay light and fluffy.
Add Sprinkles
- Incorporate the Sprinkles: Gently fold in about 2 tablespoons of sprinkles into the batter. This will give the bread a fun pop of color when sliced.
Bake the Bread
- Transfer to Pan: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Sprinkle More on Top: Sprinkle a generous amount of sprinkles over the top of the bread for that colorful, festive finish.
- Bake: Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out clean.
Cool and Serve
- Let Cool: Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Slice and Enjoy: Once the bread has cooled slightly, slice it up and serve it with your favorite spread.
