  • 1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade seasoning)
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup diced onion
  • 1/2 cup diced bell pepper (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or a mix of cheddar and Monterey Jack)

For the Crescent Dough Ring:

  • 2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough (8 rolls each)

For the Toppings (Optional):

  • Sour cream
  • Salsa
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Sliced tomatoes
  • Jalapeño slices
  • Chopped cilantro

Instructions

Make the Taco Filling

  1. Cook the Meat: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef (or your choice of protein) over medium heat until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  2. Add Seasoning: Drain any excess fat from the meat, then add the taco seasoning and water. Stir to combine, and let it simmer for 5 minutes or until thickened.
  3. Add Veggies (Optional): Stir in the diced onion and bell pepper, cooking until the veggies are softened (about 3-4 minutes).
  4. Remove from Heat: Once everything is cooked and combined, remove the skillet from the heat and set it aside to cool slightly.

Prepare the Crescent Dough Ring

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Form the Ring: On a large baking sheet, arrange the crescent roll dough in a circle. Place the wide ends of the crescent rolls facing outward, creating a ring shape with the narrow ends pointing inward.
  3. Fill the Ring: Spoon the taco filling into the center of the dough ring, then sprinkle the shredded cheese over the filling.

Fold and Bake

  1. Close the Ring: Fold the narrow ends of the crescent rolls over the taco filling to form a ring. Press the edges gently to seal the dough around the filling.
  2. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and fully cooked.

Serve and Top

  1. Cool Slightly: Let the Taco Ring cool for a few minutes before slicing.
  2. Add Toppings: Serve the Taco Ring with your favorite toppings, such as sour cream, salsa, lettuce, and tomatoes.
