Ingredients
Scale
For the Sausage Bites:
- 1 lb (450g) smoked sausage (such as kielbasa or andouille)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for frying)
For the BBQ Sauce:
- 1/2 cup barbecue sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 tablespoon honey (optional, for extra sweetness)
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar (optional, for tang)
Instructions
Prepare the Sausage
- Slice the Sausage: Cut the smoked sausage into bite-sized pieces—about 1-inch thick slices. You can slice them into rounds or diagonally for a fancier look!
- Heat the Oil: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
Cook the Sausage
- Fry the Sausage: Add the sausage slices to the hot skillet and cook, turning occasionally, for about 5-7 minutes or until they’re golden brown and slightly crispy on the edges.
- Remove and Set Aside: Once cooked, remove the sausage bites from the skillet and set them aside on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
Make the BBQ Sauce
- Mix the Sauce: In a small bowl, combine your barbecue sauce, honey, and apple cider vinegar (if using). Stir until well mixed and smooth.
Coat the Sausage in Sauce
- Toss in BBQ Sauce: Place the cooked sausage bites in a large bowl. Pour the BBQ sauce mixture over the sausage and toss to coat evenly.
Serve
- Serve and Enjoy: Serve your BBQ Sausage Bites warm, either on a platter or skewered with toothpicks for easy picking. You can also serve them with a side of extra barbecue sauce for dipping if you like.
