Chocolate Cream Cheese Bombs

  • Author: Martha
  • Total Time: 40 min.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Dough:

  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted

For the Filling:

  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Topping:

  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Filling

  1. Mix the Cream Cheese: In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese with the powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Stir until smooth and creamy.
  2. Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips in the microwave for about 30 seconds, stirring in between until fully melted and smooth.
  3. Combine the Chocolate and Cream Cheese: Gently fold the melted chocolate into the cream cheese mixture until well combined.

Prepare the Dough

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll Out the Dough: Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a flat surface and separate the dough into individual triangles.
  3. Fill the Dough: Place a generous spoonful of the chocolate cream cheese mixture in the center of each triangle.
  4. Fold the Dough: Carefully fold the dough over the filling to form a ball. Pinch the edges to seal in the filling, ensuring that it doesn’t leak out while baking.

Bake the Bombs

  1. Brush with Butter: Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the tops of the bombs with melted butter to help them achieve that golden, crispy finish.
  2. Add Sugar and Cinnamon: In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar and cinnamon (if using). Sprinkle this mixture generously over the tops of the bombs.
  3. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the bombs are golden brown and puffed up.

Serve and Enjoy

  1. Cool: Let the bombs cool for a few minutes before serving. They’re delicious when slightly warm and still soft inside.
  2. Garnish (Optional): If desired, dust with a little extra powdered sugar for a beautiful finishing touch.
