Scale
For the Brownies:
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chunks
For the Ganache Topping:
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Optional toppings: sea salt, crushed nuts, or sprinkles
Instructions
Prepare the Brownies
- Preheat Your Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving a bit of overhang for easy removal.
- Mix the Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, beating until well combined.
- Add the Dry Ingredients: Sift in the cocoa powder, flour, and salt. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Add the Chocolate Chunks: Stir in the chocolate chunks for pockets of melted chocolate in every bite.
- Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Avoid overbaking for the best fudgy texture.
Make the Ganache
- Heat the Cream: In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer.
- Melt the Chocolate: Place the chocolate chips in a heatproof bowl. Pour the hot cream over the chocolate and let it sit for 1-2 minutes. Stir until smooth and glossy.
- Spread Over Brownies: Once the brownies have cooled slightly, pour the ganache over the top and spread evenly with a spatula.
Cool and Serve
Allow the ganache to set for about 10 minutes before slicing the brownies into squares. For clean cuts, wipe your knife with a warm, damp cloth between slices.
