Instructions

Bake the Cake Layers

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour one 8-inch round pan and one 8-inch square pan.
  2. Prepare the Batter: In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. Cream the Butter and Sugar: Using an electric mixer, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add Eggs and Vanilla: Mix in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.
  5. Incorporate Dry Ingredients: Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, alternating with milk, until fully combined.

Assemble the Heart Shape

  1. Cut the Round Cake: Once cooled, cut the round cake in half to create two equal semicircles.
  2. Arrange the Pieces: Place the square cake with a point facing downward. Position the two semicircles at the top sides to form a heart shape.
  3. Apply a Crumb Coat: Spread a thin layer of frosting over the entire cake to seal in crumbs. Refrigerate for 15 minutes.

Frost and Decorate
