Matcha Tiramisu Cups

  • Author: Martha
  • Total Time: 45 min.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Matcha Soak:

  • 2 tbsp matcha powder (choose high-quality for the best flavor)
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 2 tbsp sugar (optional, depending on how sweet you like it)

For the Mascarpone Cream:

  • 1 1/2 cups mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Assembly:

  • 1215 ladyfingers (or more, depending on the size of your cups)
  • Cocoa powder, for dusting
  • A few teaspoons of matcha powder for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Matcha Soak

  1. Dissolve the Matcha: In a small bowl, whisk together the matcha powder and hot water until smooth and well dissolved. Add sugar if you’d like it sweeter, and whisk again until completely incorporated.
  2. Let It Cool: Allow the matcha mixture to cool slightly. It should be at room temperature when you dip the ladyfingers.

Make the Mascarpone Cream

  1. Whisk the Cream: In a large mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  2. Mix Mascarpone: In a separate bowl, mix the mascarpone cheese until smooth. Gradually fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined and creamy.

Assemble the Tiramisu Cups

  1. Dip the Ladyfingers: Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled matcha soak. Don’t soak them too long; just a quick dip will suffice. If you leave them too long, they may become soggy.
  2. Layer the Cups: In individual cups, start by placing a layer of dipped ladyfingers at the bottom.
  3. Add Mascarpone Cream: Spoon a layer of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers. Smooth it out with a spatula to create an even layer.
  4. Repeat the Layers: Repeat the process, layering more dipped ladyfingers and then more mascarpone cream until you run out of ingredients or your cups are full.
  5. Chill the Cups: Cover the cups and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight. This allows the flavors to meld and the tiramisu to set perfectly.

Finish with Garnish

  1. Dust with Cocoa: Before serving, dust the top of each cup with cocoa powder for that signature tiramisu look.
  2. Garnish with Matcha: If you want to take it up a notch, sprinkle a little matcha powder over the top for a beautiful green finish and an extra hit of matcha flavor.
