Ingredients
For the Mozzarella Sticks:
- 12 mozzarella cheese sticks (string cheese works great!)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko for extra crispiness)

- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

Instructions
1. Prepare the Cheese Sticks
Take the mozzarella cheese sticks and cut them in half if you prefer smaller sticks, or leave them whole if you want larger mozzarella sticks. Set them aside.
2. Prepare the Coating
In one shallow bowl, place the all-purpose flour. In a second shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs and water. In a third shallow bowl, mix the breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, dried oregano, salt, and pepper.
3. Coat the Mozzarella Sticks
Dip each mozzarella stick into the flour, ensuring it’s fully coated. Then dip it into the egg mixture, followed by the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to make sure the breadcrumbs stick. For extra crunch, you can repeat the egg and breadcrumb steps to double-coat the sticks.
4. Freeze the Mozzarella Sticks
Place the coated mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet and freeze them for at least 15 minutes (or up to 1 hour). This step helps prevent the cheese from melting too quickly when frying.
5. Heat the Oil
While the mozzarella sticks are freezing, heat about 2 inches of oil in a large pan or deep fryer to 375°F (190°C). You can test the oil’s temperature by dropping in a small piece of breadcrumb—if it sizzles right away, the oil is ready.
6. Fry the Mozzarella Sticks
Carefully place the frozen mozzarella sticks into the hot oil, a few at a time, so they don’t overcrowd the pan. Fry them for 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Use tongs or a slotted spoon to remove the sticks from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
7. Serve and Enjoy
Serve your crispy, gooey mozzarella sticks immediately while they’re hot! Pair them with your favorite dipping sauce, like marinara or ranch, and enjoy!
