S’Mores Whipped Hot Cocoa

  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup mini marshmallows (or marshmallow fluff)

For the Garnish:

  • Crushed graham crackers (for rim or topping)
  • Whole marshmallows (for garnish)
  • Chocolate shavings (optional)

Instructions

Make the Hot Cocoa

  1. Heat the Milk: In a medium saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until it’s warm but not boiling—just a few minutes will do.
  2. Add the Cocoa Powder and Sugar: Whisk in the cocoa powder, sugar, and a pinch of salt until everything is dissolved and well combined.
  3. Add the Chocolate Chips: Stir in the chocolate chips and continue to whisk until they melt completely and the mixture is smooth.
  4. Finish with Vanilla and Cream: Stir in the vanilla extract and heavy cream to give the cocoa a silky texture. Let it warm for another minute before removing from the heat.

Make the Whipped Marshmallow Topping

  1. Whip the Cream: In a mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. This usually takes about 3-5 minutes with an electric mixer.
  2. Add the Marshmallow: Gently fold in the mini marshmallows or marshmallow fluff to incorporate them into the whipped cream, creating that delightful marshmallow topping.

Assemble the S’Mores Whipped Hot Cocoa

  1. Prepare the Mugs: If you’re feeling extra festive, rim the edges of your mugs with crushed graham crackers for a crunchy touch.
  2. Pour the Cocoa: Pour the hot cocoa into your prepared mugs, filling them about three-quarters full.
  3. Top with Whipped Marshmallow: Spoon a generous dollop of the whipped marshmallow topping onto each mug of cocoa.
  4. Garnish: Add a whole marshmallow on top of the whipped topping, and for an extra special touch, sprinkle with chocolate shavings or even drizzle some chocolate syrup over the marshmallows.
