Scale
For the Crab Legs:
- 2–4 snow crab leg clusters (about 1.5–2 pounds)
- Water for steaming or boiling
- Salt (optional, for boiling water)
For the Dipping Butter:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (1 stick)
- 1 clove garlic, minced (optional)
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1–2 teaspoons chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
Prepare the Crab Legs
- Thaw the Crab Legs (if frozen): If you’re using frozen snow crab legs, it’s best to thaw them in the fridge overnight. If you’re short on time, you can place them in a sealed plastic bag and run cold water over them to thaw them faster.
- Boil or Steam the Crab Legs:
- Boil: Fill a large pot with water, add a pinch of salt, and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, add the crab legs and cook for about 4-6 minutes until they’re heated through.
- Steam: If you prefer steaming, fill a large pot with about an inch of water and bring it to a simmer. Place the crab legs in a steamer basket or colander, cover the pot, and steam for about 5-7 minutes.
- Drain and Serve: Once the crab legs are cooked, carefully remove them from the pot and drain them. Arrange them on a platter, ready to be cracked open and devoured.
Prepare the Dipping Butter
- Melt the Butter: In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add Garlic (optional): If you’re using garlic, add it to the butter and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Season: Stir in the lemon juice, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve: Pour the melted butter into small dipping bowls and sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley for a pop of color.
- Prep Time: 5 min.
- Cook Time: 10-15 min.
