  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar

Prepare the Dough

  1. Preheat Your Oven: Preheat to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add Wet Ingredients: Mix in the egg, vanilla extract, red food coloring, and white vinegar until fully combined.
  5. Combine: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring just until no streaks of flour remain.
  6. Optional Add-Ins: Fold in white chocolate chips or nuts if using.

Shape and Bake

  1. Scoop Dough: Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart.
  2. Bake: Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers look slightly underdone.
  3. Cool: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
